It’s summer, and that means “time to barbecue!” In this installment of “What’s Kindra Cooking?” we would like to introduce you to the Austin Burger — a beef patty so tasty, so summer worthy, so complete in itself that you can forget all about a bun. Named for Kindra’s body building boyfriend (Austin, go figure…), this creation is so stinking delicious that the two of them once polished off a pound and a half of these babies at a single afternoon function. Not kidding. Hence, while it would be extremely unwise to let the two of them anywhere near your fridge, it would be almost equally unwise to pass up a chance to serve this delicious burger at your next party or family ‘cue.
The Austin Burger
1.5 pounds of lean, grass-fed, ground sirloin
1 egg
1 T real mayonnaise
2T gluten-free BBQ sauce
1 T McCormick’s Montreal steak seasoning
3 cloves finely minced garlic
1/2 sweet onion, shredded
Combine all ingredients in a bowl using your hands. Shape into 6 equal-sized patties, Grill to perfection. Austin and Kindra like these topped with cheddar cheese, but agree that grilled onions would also be welcome. Take a bite before adding condiments. These are sooo good that sauces like mustard are redundant.
